Kazakhstan suggests creating new environmental declaration – «Green Bridge» between Europe and Asia. The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, declared this statement on Thursday during the III Astana Economic Forum.
«The recent disaster in the Gulf of Mexico is a warning of those sad consequences, which await us if in a pursuit of economic growth we ignore ecology and climate issues. The world requires new environmentally safe technologies and their fast exchange, and wider use of renewable sources of energy», – Nursultan Nazarbayev noted.
In this regard, the Head of the State articulated that during one of the recently conducted United Nations’ summits Kazakhstan initiated creating new environmental declaration, the so-called “Green Bridge” between Europe and Asia.
The Sixth Ministerial Conference on Environment and Development was presented during the Kazakhstan International Congress “Astana Minerals & Metallurgy-2010”
July 8, 2010 4:44The Kazakhstan International Congress on mineral resources and metallurgy “Astana Minerals & Metallurgy-2010” finished its work in Astana.
The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, and the Minister of industry and new technologies, Aset Isekeshev, took part in Congress work. The representatives of Government of the Russian Federation, special group on mining industry and metallurgy (APEC Mining Task Force) within the framework of Asian-Pacific economic cooperation (АPEC), the largest mining and metallurgical holdings and companies – ENRC Plc, Shen Pujing Steel Group (China), Caiani&Company (Australia), Ivanhoe Mines (Canada), Hamriyah Steel (United Arab Emirates), Associations of manufacturers of iron and steel (Turkey) and others were invited to give speeches at the Forum.
The Head of the State gave a welcome speech during the plenary session dedicated to the issues of strategic vision on a role of metallurgical sector in transformation of the world economy, underlining importance of the branch environmental safety.
During the plenary session «Sustainable Development and Efficiency of Metallurgical Business» and exhibition within the framework of the Congress, the information on preparation for the VI UNESCAP Ministerial Conference on Environment and Development, Astana-2010 (MCED-6), which will take place on September 27th – October 2nd 2010 in the «Palace of Independence » in Astana was presented.
More than 400 delegates from 9 countries, including Belarus, United Kingdom, Germany, China, Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and Uzbekistan, took part in work of the Congress.
