Akmaral Mukayeva, an environmental specialist of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia, appeared in a TV program “Dagdarystan Damuga” (From crisis to development”) on the national TV channel “Kazakhstan” on 24th of May, 2010. She spoke about the upcoming VI Ministerial Conference on Environment and Development in Asia and the Pacific (MCED6).
The Conference will take place on September 27 – October 2, 2010 in Astana. This is the sixth conference, which is held every five years. Astana Initiative is the main document of the Conference, aiming at establishment of the green bridge between the Asia-Pacific Region and Europe. The Initiative’s key objective is to provide technical, information and communication support to the cooperation of two regional processes – Environment and Development in APR and Environment for Europe. Since the process of green growth and development has some history and reflects the international community’s priorities, Kazakhstan supports the constructive dialogue in order to align the Program with the interests of the Asia-Pacific Region and Europe. The Eurasian cooperation program will include demo projects, exchange of green technologies and best environmental practices.
The Green Bridge idea and concept may be discussed on website prior to the Conference, as well as during the main and side events of MCED6 in Astana on September 27 – October 2, 2010.
